Spakes Drug StoreNortheast corner of East Union and North Sterling Streets, Morganton, NC. ca 1941. Y. E. Spake moved his drug store here in 1941 and was the building's first occupant. The home of David Tate was previously on the site. Benjamins, a men's clothier, occupies the building today.Published by Asheville Postcard Company.

Caldwell Hotel - DemolitionThe Caldwell Hotel was located on the southeast corner of South Green and East Union Streets, Morganton, NC. It was razed in 1965. The Marquee Cinemas are currently on the site.

Carolina TheaterLocated in the 100 block of W. Union Street, Morganton. The building was constructed by M. M. Bost to serve as a theater. It was completed in 1913. W. I. Davis and L. E. Webb operated the theater which was called the New Theater when it opened. The name was later changed to Carolina Theater.

Catawba Valley Canning CompanyLocated on Beach Street which is near the depot on South Green Street, Morganton, NC. ca. 1906. The shed was later bricked in for the Vaudois Hosiery Mills. It once served as a warehouse for Nite Furniture Company.

Claywell - Bowers Funeral HomeLocated on the east side of the 100 block of North Green Street, Morganton, NC. In 1919, Richard B. Boger and W. N. Claywell bought the funeral home from Edward B. Claywell who had sold coffins in his furniture store as early as 1893. W. N. Claywell ran the funeral home until 1942 when Kirksey and Company bought the business.Photographed on December 29, 1935 by Greene Studio

Glen Alpine Knitting Mills, Inc.Constructed about 1920 on US Highway 70 on the east end of Glen Alpine, NC for Clarence B. Lail and Noah O. Pitts. It was in operation from about 1922 until 1947. The structure is still standing and houses an antiques mall and winery.
