Reproduction Requests

Researchers may request photographic or digital reproductions of items held in the Picture Burke photographic collection. 

1. Before you order familiarize yourself with the Copyright Statement and review the Reproduction Fees.
2. Total price must be paid in full before an order can be started.  Rush orders will not be accepted.
3. Payment:  Currently accepted forms of payment include cash or check in U. S. funds. Credit cards cannot be used. 
4. There may be extra fees for commercial use.
5. All requests must include a copy of a signed Reproduction Request Agreement.

Requests for copies will be completed as timely as possible with Picture Burke resource limitations on equipment and staff time.

Handling Charge                                  

All orders will be assessed a five percent (5%) handling charge.

Commercial Use of Images         

PB charges commercial use fees to help support  the activities of collecting, preserving, and making available its holdings.  Researchers requesting to use a reproduction for promotional purposes  and financial gain may be assessed a commercial usage fee.  Legal residents, and for-profit businesses, organizations, and partnerships based in North Carolina are normally not charged commercial usage fees.

Commercial use fees normally apply to for-profit corporations, partnerships, private businesses and individuals when images are to be used commercially in books, periodicals, films, video productions, advertising, projection or direct sale.  This includes the display of photographs in public areas of commercial buildings, restaurants, galleries, and retail spaces.  Commercial fees are not charged when photographs are obtained for purposes of private viewing and research.

The fee for commercial use of photographs is normally $100.00 per image used.  In instances of advertising or the direct marketing of images a higher fee may apply.  Fees for commercial use are in addition to the costs associated with providing a commercial user with a reproduction of the image.

Reproductions are provided for one-time use only.  Any later or different use including the production of subsequent editions or printings of a work constitutes reuse and requires renegotiation and repayment of commercial usage fees.  Usage fees apply no later than thirty ? days following the publication or commercial use of images.  A deposit may be required.

.Non-Profit Eligibility

Non-profit eligibility may include government agencies and non-profit organizations when the use of images is not for fund-raising purposes.  Such status may be established by supplying tax-exempt certificates, letters of identification, or other appropriate documentation.

For-profit corporations, partnerships, private businesses, and individuals working for non-profit agencies and government agencies on projects sponsored by those organizations may be eligible to receive non-profit status on a case-by-case consideration.
